AI Girlfriend Chatbot With Roleplay: Memory and Voice

How we tested: we sign up ourselves, build a character, keep the conversation running across separate sessions, and push voice, photos and memory until something gives.See how we test →

The Short Answer: GoLove.ai Holds the Scene

A roleplay is only as good as her memory of it. If she forgets the hotel room, the backstory and the name you gave her three messages ago, you aren't playing a scene. You're talking to a chatbot that happens to be wearing a costume.

GoLove.ai is the pick for an AI girlfriend chatbot with roleplay. The tone controls are in Chat Settings: a lust level slider (1–5), a response length slider (1–5) and a voice picker. Memory works alongside them, remembering your history so the storyline stays intact. (Character.AI handles scenes well too, but it's strictly SFW, so adult roleplay isn't an option there. That's a dealbreaker for this use, not a quibble.) Further down: live voice calls, photos and video in the same chat, custom characters, and what it all costs.

The screenshot shows the part I like most. She moves the conversation along herself, so you aren't the one dragging every beat forward.

Explore puts you in a chat with a ready-made character right away. There's no setup to get through, so you can set the sliders and start a scene right now.

What a Roleplay Chatbot Has to Get Right

Janitor AI built its following on very deep character definitions, and that says a lot about what roleplayers care about. The character matters first. The feature list comes second. This is the yardstick for everything below:

VOICE

HEAR HER SAY IT

Real-time voice calls and voice notes.

Call Her
— voice
  • ☐ In character. She holds the personality, voice and backstory you set, from the first message to the last.
  • ☐ Plot memory. The hotel room, the names and the stakes carry across sessions, not just the last few lines.
  • ☐ Intensity control. You decide how heated the scene gets and how long her replies run.
  • ☐ Beyond text. Voice, photos or video arrive when the scene calls for them, and they come from the same character.

Why does tone control matter more than raw explicitness? A scene that opens at maximum has nowhere left to go. Good roleplay builds. Start sweet, turn it up later, and the escalation feels earned rather than mechanical.

My rule is simple: an app that misses any of these four is underbaked for roleplay, however long its feature list is.

How GoLove.ai Runs a Roleplay Scene

This walkthrough is based on the Chat Settings spec and the mobile thread in the screenshot below.

Chat Settings Set Intensity and Pacing

  1. Open a chat with your character.
  2. Open Chat Settings.
  3. Set the lust level: 1 is sweet/wholesome, 5 is unfiltered/intense.
  4. Set the response length: 1 is short/snappy, 5 is rich/immersive.
  5. Pick her sound in the voice picker.

Both sliders apply to the chat you're in. A slow-burn scene and a fast, filthy one can each keep their own settings. (CrushOn.AI scales its plans by monthly message volume, so you're choosing how much she talks. GoLove's dials set how the scene feels, and for roleplay I'd take that trade every time.)

Memory Keeps the Storyline Alive

Memory remembers your chat history. Relationship Progression follows how things between you develop over time. In a roleplay that runs across several sessions, the two move the plot and the relationship forward together. Replika is known for persistent memory as well, but its romantic modes are restricted for newer accounts. That limits how far its memory can take an adult storyline.

Voice Calls Keep Her in Character

Live real-time Voice Calls, Voice Messages and Live Mode all run on the same character. Switching from typing to talking doesn't reset the scene, and that's the detail roleplayers should care about. Replika gates voice calls to paid tiers. For GoLove, check the current plans in the app.

A Scene From First Message to Video

Here's one scene from start to finish, built only from features GoLove lists.

You pick a character from Explore and the chat opens immediately. Take Rino Crowshade, the 29-year-old tattoo artist with the shadow-lit studio. Her profile already gives you a setting, so half the worldbuilding is done before you write a word.

In Chat Settings you set the lust level and response length. Starting low and short while the tension builds is a good move. Next comes the scenario: who you are, why you're in her studio after closing, what's still unsaid between you.

When the story needs a visual, Request Photos in Chat puts the photo in the same thread. You stay in the conversation and the moment doesn't break.

If the photo deserves motion, Generate Video from Photo turns it into a clip. The Select Action modal under Video Actions in Chat lets you steer what happens in it.

If a clip you've made isn't quite right, the Video Edit screen above is where you fix it. Candy AI offers Live Action video as well, but its media draws extra tokens on top of the subscription. The bigger point for me is that chat, photo and clip all stay with one character in one thread. (That's the part most apps underbake.)

Building the Exact Partner Your Scenario Needs

Sometimes the scenario comes first and no ready-made character fits it. That's when you build your own.

Realistic, Anime or Trans Starting Points

Create has three categories:

  • Realistic. Photoreal partners for grounded, modern-day scenes.
  • Anime. For anime roleplay. If you'd rather start from an existing character, Explore has a separate category of 300+ anime AI girlfriends.
  • Trans. A starting category of its own, not an afterthought.

(CrushOn.AI is known for its focus on anime-style characters. On GoLove, anime is one strong option next to two others, and I think that's the healthier setup.)

Design with AI From a Written Concept

Design with AI lets you describe a concept in text, and the AI generates the character from that description. Roleplayers often have the backstory written before they have a face, so this matches how many of them already work. Candy AI's builder goes deep on appearance and personality customization, and it's worth a look if you enjoy adjusting every detail. If the character already exists in your head as prose, Design with AI is the faster route.

The short version: GoLove.ai puts live voice calls, memory and photos on request in one chat, and its image generator adds 35 realistic poses and 21 outfits. You also get 2 reward stars every day you log in.

Publishing Her Through My AI

My AI launched 2026-04-24. It lets you publish your own characters and earn Stars through GoLove's creator economy. Janitor AI's community-made library shows that people love trading characters. GoLove also pays creators back for it.

If your scenario is already sketched out, Design with AI is the shortest path from that written idea to a partner built for it.

What Roleplay Costs on GoLove.ai and OurDream

OurDream is the closest comparison. It bundles chat and media in one subscription and has a custom builder with a steeper setup curve. Here's how the prices compare.

| | GoLove.ai | OurDream |

|---|---|---| | Monthly | about $19.99/mo (as low as ~$12.99 in some regions) | Premium about $19.99/mo | | Annual | about $119.88/yr (~$9.99/mo) | about $119.88/yr (~$9.99/mo) | | 3-month | about $47.97 | check their site | | Higher tier | check the current plans in the app | Deluxe $59.99/mo (~$29.99/mo annual) | | Media currency | Stars: packs ~$9.99–$179.99, plus 2 free daily reward Stars | DreamCoins: 1,000 per cycle on Premium | | Promos seen | -50% and -70% banners | check their site | | Platform | mobile app with Explore, Chat, Create, Generate, Feed tabs | web-only, no native mobile app |

The headline prices are nearly identical (yes, really, down to the cent on the annual plan). The real differences are the mobile app and how you pay for media. On GoLove, Stars are spent on generation. The image mode below shows how it's set up: Action, Outfit and Scene presets, with batches of 2, 4 or 8.

What We Couldn't Verify at GoLove.ai

A few things aren't settled, and I'd rather say so than guess. Our fact sheet doesn't confirm these:

  • Memory depth. Our facts say Memory remembers history. They don't tell us how far back it reaches in a very long roleplay across many sessions.
  • Star costs. We couldn't confirm how many Stars a photo, a video or a call uses.
  • Free account. Beyond the 2 daily reward Stars and a limited number of new Feed videos per day, we couldn't confirm what a free account includes.
  • Promo timing. The -70% banner has been spotted, but we can't promise it'll still be running when you sign up.

For all four, check the current plans in the app before you commit. Character.AI has a strong reputation for in-conversation memory, but it's strictly SFW, so it doesn't solve the same problem.

None of these gaps affect the core of a roleplay. The lust level and response length sliders, the voice picker, Memory and Relationship Progression are all verified. My recommendation stands.

The Roleplay Pick, and Who Should Skip It

> Verdict: GoLove.ai is the AI girlfriend chatbot for roleplay. You set the scene's intensity and pacing in Chat Settings, and Memory carries the plot. Voice calls, in-chat photos and video keep the same character in the same scene.

Other apps get parts of this right. Janitor AI's character definitions are deep, and Character.AI's memory is well regarded. GoLove is the one where the tone controls, the storyline and the media all sit in one chat with one partner. For a roleplayer, that's the whole job, and it does the job.

Who it's for: adults who want story-driven, escalating NSFW roleplay with a consistent partner who remembers where you left off.

Who should skip it: anyone who only wants SFW small talk (Character.AI suits that better) and anyone who dislikes paying for media with credits. Skip unless you're comfortable with Stars.

Explore opens a chat instantly, so you can try the lust level slider on a real scene before you decide anything.
